CopilotKit's open-source, self-hostable template for always-on AI coworkers ("Dots"), each with its own computer, document Spaces, voice calls, and Slack access.
CopilotKit's open-source answer to OpenAI's Dots, announced by CEO Atai Barkai. You clone it and run it yourself; it's a template, not a hosted product. Each Dot gets a name, a role, instructions, and a set of permitted tools. It can also get its own computer through OpenBot: a persistent browser profile, workspace files, and a shell, with per-Dot permissions and a panel where you can take over. Spaces hold the working documents. Pages are nested, edited in a visual editor, and kept in a local SQLite database.
You connect tools from any MCP server. Read-only tools run on their own, and everything else waits for you to approve it in the chat. Voice calls pair realtime WebRTC speech with a separate compute agent, so longer work keeps running while you talk. Slack goes through CopilotKit's Channels SDK and only accepts workspaces and users on an allowlist. AG-UI connects the agent to the UI, TanStack AI handles model streaming, and any OpenAI-compatible provider can supply the model.
It's alpha, MIT licensed, and built for a single owner. One catch for self-hosting: conversations need CopilotKit Intelligence, which can be their hosted service, a local Docker evaluation, or a licensed self-hosted deployment. Overview: copilotkit.ai/opendots.
